Best place for traditional homemade sweet treats in Singapore is at the Dong Po Colonial Cafe.

Hours: 8am-9pm (Tue-Thu); 8am-11pm (Fri); 10am-9pm (Sat-Sun) The times, they are a-changin'. Some people hoard vintage furniture in protest. Others scribble down their grandfather's recipes in remembrance of a fast-fading past. But fourth-generation baker Kelvin Soh wants more than just memories: he hopes to re-introduce pastries from 50's and 60's Singapore into the modern-day diet. So the graphic designer put his career on hold earlier this year to start Dong Po Colonial Cafe, a vintage bakery-cafe in Kampong Glam. Though it sits just a few units adjacent to Maison Ikkoku, a two-year-old hipster coffee and cocktail bar, the month-old Dong Po looks like it's been there for much longer.
