Baba King Nonya Deli & Restaurant 1 Changi Business Park Crescent, #01-22, Plaza 8 Say “Peranakan” and what comes to mind are the descendents of the Straits settlers, and their skilful artisanship which bequeathed us the baju panjang, beaded slippers, ornate porcelain, and quaint antiques. The cuisine of the Baba Nyonya is also an integral part of its heritage. To have a fuller appreciation of Peranakan culture, you’ll have to partake of its rich culinary tradition, a blend of Chinese, Malay, Indian, Middle Eastern and colonial influences. If you’re geared up for some gastronomic exploration, let me relate my experience of the line-up of Peranakan delicacies at Baba King Nonya Deli & Restaurant. This was the third time I had enjoyed a meal at this eatery. Having heartily indulged my palate on the previous occasions, I was naturally keen to try new dishes.
