Cakes Literally – When In Doubt, CAKE
You know, I always admire people who dare to live their dream. Because I can’t. And the older I get, my dream seems further away than before. When I visited Cakes Literally a few weeks back, it just speaks my dream out loud. Having a cafe of my own, with an interior that is simple and nothing pretentious, serving the food I enjoy. How nice. Guess what, owner Carissa is a self taught baker but a trained chemist. She jumped from a pharmaceutical industry to a baker, it’s really a big change. No words can describe how much admiration I have for her. You can’t find fanciful cakes here. So it is really a test of your skills. But I am sure you won’t be disappointed. The first that caught my eyes was the Carrot Cake ($7 per slice). The cake is perfectly moist and full of citrus and spices.
