Bread-lovers are excited over the opening of Artisanal bakery and café Maison Kayser at Scotts Square. Although only recently opened, it has already gained a loyal following in Singapore for its fresh breads, pastries and brioche. The bakery, which has 18 outlets in Japan, is a joint venture between two pioneers in bread-making – The original Parisian bakery and the Japanese Kimura family. Frenchman Eric Kayser from the original Parisian bakery belongs to a 4-generation family of bakers. Known for his traditional natural leaven baking techniques, Kayser is often said to be the “ambassador of French bread to the world”. On the other side of the joint venture business is Shu Kimura whose family owns the oldest bread shops in Japan.
