WATCH: Some Americans try out snacks that can be found in Singapore.

It seems that the Fung Bros YouTube video on Singapore and Malaysia (which focused mainly on food) has managed to pique the interest of some people. All that coconut milk up in "ren-dang" and "char kway tiu" must have whetted some appetites. In one of their "Americans taste..." series of videos, the guys at BuzzFeed get their hands on some exotic Singapore food which they then put into their mouths to see if it agrees with the American palate. They start off with a childhood favourite, haw flakes, or as some of us knew it, saan zha beng. Admittedly, they got it right; the smell isn't anything to write home about, though it is pleasantly sweet. Next are the squid chips, which we can find at the provision shops at the bottom of our HDB flats or in school canteens. These too seems to strike a chord with them.
