Cupcake mosaic breaks world record:

It was a double celebration yesterday, when the Guinness World Record for the largest cupcake mosaic was broken by one assembled at the Singapore Expo to celebrate Singapore’s 47th birthday. The 16m by 8m giant mosaic, made from 20,000 cupcakes, will benefit the needy too. The previous record was set in 2009 in the United States, using 5,900 cupcakes. Designed by the School of the Arts, yesterday’s mosaic featured a green Merlion backdrop, over which a pair of hands enclosed the Singapore flag in a heart shape. The 20,000 cupcakes required 600kg of cupcake mix, 350kg of egg, 300kg of vegetable oil and 700kg of fondant. They took 18 hours and 16 decks of ovens to bake.
