My wife’s favourite dish, you can definitely use store bought char siew (roasted pork) for this canapé version of the popular Hong Kong dish or you can make your own. Serves 6 Ingredients: 400g minced pork 1 cup chicken stock 1 red onion, diced finely 3 garlic cloves, minced 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 2 heaped tablespoons Hoisin sauce 1 teaspoon white pepper 1 packet ready rolled puff pastry 10g chopped chives 3 tablespoons white sesame seeds 1 egg, beaten Method: 1. In a pot over medium heat, fry the onions for about 1 minute before adding the garlic. Fry for a further 1 minute. 2. Add the minced pork and fry briefly until slightly browned. 3. Add the chicken stock, Hoisin sauce and pepper before simmering over low heat for about 1 hour. The mixture should be dry and thick by then. 4. Add the chopped chives and reserve. 5.
