Bata brings back the Kurt Cobain-worn Hotshot

From creased flannel shirts, bug-eye sunglasses and dirty Converse Jack Purcells, even the markings he inscribed on his sneakers have inspired speculative discussion . Those with a discerning eye will have noticed that while the Jack Purcell was a clear favourite, the late grunge pioneer was also photographed on numerous occasions wearing the Bata Hotshot. Despite being developed in the ’70s in partnership with Wilson, the lightweight sneaker was bestowed with a brand new context on the feet of one of rock music’s greatest trendsetters. First developed as a basketball shoe, much like the Converse Chuck Taylor All-Star, the Hotshot surpassed its athletic roots to permeate street fashion, without losing the sports-driven construction that shot its silhouette into the limelight.
