Part traditional Indian exercise and part circus training, Yogafly takes yoga poses from the ancient Indian discipline and – as the name suggests – suspends them in the air. Upside Motion’s Beh Hwee Sze and Lynn Ong discovered the new exercise method while on the search for something fun to add to the local wellness scene, and it’s certainly an exhilarating class, as it makes technical inversion moves doable even for yoga newbies. The Elementary Level class we attended started easy with a round of stretching, then grew in intensity as we learnt how to incorporate the hanging hammock with core- and leg-focused standing poses like the tree pose and warrior. The headlining act, of course, was the modified handstand.
