Presented by The Arts House and Dragon Fly Productions Jaishree Misra is an Indian author whose semi-autobiographical debut novel Ancient Promises (Penguin Books, 1999) became a major bestseller in India. Her epic historical novel Rani (Penguin Global, 2008) based on Rani Lakshmibai, a leading female figure of Indian nationalism in the 1800s, was deemed as disrespectful and banned by the Uttar Pradesh state government. Thankfully for us, her other bestselling works of fiction such as Afterwards, The Little Book of Romance and Accidents Like Love and Marriage have not been outlawed! Join us as she reads from her contribution to A Monsoon Feast , a unique literary collaboration between writers from India and Singapore.
