Our latest video interview with Singapore Biennale artists. This playful duo tell us why its important to have fun!

While many people believe that art can only come from depressing or traumatic events, Indonesian husband-and-wife duo Irwin Ahmett and Tita Salina think otherwise – they are much more preoccupied with encouraging people to rediscover a more carefree part of their childhood by bringing the idea of ‘play’ into the city. As part of the Singapore Biennale, the couple have created two series of works – the first is a giant colourful crossword puzzle (located outside the Li Ka Shing Library at SMU, directly opposite SAM), which they invite the public to collectively help fill in, while the second is a series of videos (situated in the gallery space on the first floor of SAM at 8Q) that feature various scenarios they created by getting a group of volunteers to convert cities into play spaces.
