Opening tonight is edgy-cool Buttero, which will be serving Italian plates created by its chef/owner Logan Campbell

Chef-owner Logan Campbell channels an urban-cool vibe with his new Tras Street venue, Buttero. With distressed, bare brick flanking one wall of the shophouse space, and a sprawling mural by Hong Kong-based street artist Caratoes splashed on the other, the Italian-driven fare by the Sydney import is similarly casual with options like sharing plates of dry-rubbed wagyu flank steak cooked over hot coals ($34), salt-crusted whole barramundi ($34), as well as pasta options like pappardelle with spanner crab ($25) and house made gnocchi with New Zealand honey ($21). Showcasing his love for music – the menu notably features Beastie Boys and UB40 lyrics, and an old spinet piano sits near the front – Thursdays rewards vinyl fans with a free cocktail. Bring your favourite record and get Logan’s approval to redeem your drink.
