“My tapping hoof beats are a beautiful mistake. I am not a returning man, but only a passing traveler”, a well known verse from The Mistake (1954) by Cheng Chou-yu, a renowned poet in Taiwan, is still being widely recited today. The poem has also been selected in the Junior College Chinese textbooks in Singapore. Cheng will be sharing his poetic journey in a public talk and a dialogue session with local poets, Toh Lam Huat and Pan Cheng Lui on 31 May 2014 at The Arts House. This will be followed by a sharing session by Yang Shun-ching, Executive Producer of ‘The Inspired Island Series’ on how he transformed the life and works of six Taiwanese renowned writers into documentaries. The day will end with the screening of two documentaries from The Inspired Island Series featuring Cheng Chou-yu and Lin Hai-yin.
