Crescent Girls’ School Symphonic Band (CGSSB) celebrates their 45th Anniversary this year with popular themes spanning from the 1970s to the present. The CGSSB performs a selection of military and jazz music, and Japanese pop melodies featuring E. E. Bagley’s National Emblem March , AKB48’s Janken Senbatsu, Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away theme, as well as tribute medleys to Louis Armstrong and popular songwriter Miki Takashi. Since it was established in 1967, the band has expanded its range of instrumentation and has undergone transformations from military school band to the full symphonic band it is today. It maintains a regular annual membership of 100 under faithful guidance of its founder, Mr Lee Seck Chiang and his protégés, Mdm Tan Soh Hwa and Mr Chua Tiong Hong.
