Being the eldest child comes with a whole lot of expectations and responsibility. You are expected to behave a certain way and speak in a certain manner. We did not ask for this. It was never our choice. It just sort of happened and we had to deal with what life dealt us. But, weighing out the pros and cons, there are definitely some perks that the eldest kid always enjoys . 1. Never getting hand me downs I do not know about you but I never got hand me downs. Everything I got - toys, clothes, anything really, was almost always new. Definitely a eldest kid perk right there. As a kid, getting something new was like receiving a gift for Christmas early.
