This short talk summarises the main theme of the book, Eurasians , by covering the history of the Eurasian community in Singapore, its apparent disappearance and recent revitalisation. As will be discussed, the Eurasian community's social history is intricately woven into Singapore's own history and development. Registration required. Please click here to register. About the speaker Alexius A. Pereira is currently Deputy Director at the Research and Statistics Division, Ministry of Home Affairs. He was previously an Assistant Professor at the Department of Sociology, National University of Singapore. He received his PhD in sociology from the London School of Economics and Political Science (UK) in 2001. Dr Pereira’s interest in the Eurasian community began with his Master’s thesis in 1995 for NUS entitled “Singapore Eurasians: Their Management of Ethnic Identity”. This was...
