#Indie explosion: two Baybeats bands to catch

Since 2002, Baybeats has been one of the best ways anyone in Singapore can get a full-on introduction to homegrown English-language alternative music in one weekend. The festival has since grown to become an event that is as much about the scene as the music. There are opportunities for aspiring gig photographers, music journalists, music video filmmakers, and something for just about anyone else in the music scene. When you get down to it, Baybeats is about being there experiencing the music, everything from hard-driving punk to slow-burning electropop. This year, the festival features 51 bands and music artists across four performance stages (including the brand new Open Stage for aspiring musicians). We get the lowdown on two bands that will be rocking the Arena (Esplanade Outdoor Theatre).
