Tiong Bahru is a small, charming housing estate that dates back to the 19th century but took on its well-known appearance when the first public housing programmes – the SIT Flats - were built. These flats were the predecessors of today’s HDB Flats. The trail will take participants through the Tiong Bahru air raid shelter, the flats with unique architecture and the bird singing corner, among others. Two-way bus transport will be provided. (Meeting Point: Drive way at the Plaza, National Library Building)
