SINGAPORE - The Workers' Party held its first rally of the Punggol East by-election tonight, at the open field in front of Block 183C, Rivervale Crescent. NCMP Gerald Giam's speech centred on the cost of healthcare: "Many senior citizens worry that it's better to die than fall ill in Singapore. If you're elderly you shouldn't have to worry about healthcare costs after working all your life to help build Singapore. Even young working adults have to be worried, because you'll have to pay for your parents medical expenses." Mr Giam said he had three words to describe Ms Lee Li Lian, who works with her on the party's media team: Energetic, enthusiastic, empathetic. "You can be sure Lee Li Lian can help solve constituency problems with great vigour."
