Singapore moots stricter use of national ID, bill to ease data-sharing within government

The Singapore government is reviewing guidelines to limit the use of national identification numbers and has introduced a new bill to ease data-sharing within the public sector. The Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) said it was looking to revise advisory guidelines in the country's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) that pertained specifically to the collection, use, and disclosure of NRIC numbers.
