The only woman to have made it to Rolling Stone magazine's list of New School Of Guitar Gods will be performing her first show in Singapore next month. Guitar maestro Kaki King, 33, known for her percussive melodies using different guitar tunings, and intricate fingerstyle technique, is playing on March 12 as part of the annual Mosaic Music Festival organised by the Esplanade. King, who was mentored by famed American fingerstyle guitarist Preston Reed, recently put out a new and seventh studio album, Glow (2012), in which she returns to her solo guitar roots. Her first two albums, Everybody Loves You (2003) and Legs To Make Us Longer (2004), were both solo instrumental guitar albums.
