Singapore has long been angling to become a leading global fintech hub, but a shortage of talent may pose a threat to those plans. In 2018 alone, the city-state has announced plans to fast track fintech patents, launch a marketplace lending committee, and establish AI guidelines , among other initiatives. Moreover, Singapore aims to add 1,000 fintech jobs every year. However, with its current education system, it would be majorly reliant on foreign talent to enter the city-state, which may be problematic against the backdrop of strict immigration policies.
