Could Wireless@SG save Singapore's broadband future? - CNET

SingTel, M1 and StarHub's simultaneous and coordinated application of data caps for mobile data from 12GB to 2, 3 and 4GB--in the face of higher data use in our increasingly connected wireless broadband world and lower network operating costs for telcos--has placed a huge gray cloud over our nation's broadband future. It's basically a pricing increase for mobile data, a 3 to 6 times price increase. Worse still, our regulators at the Infocomm Development Authority have made few comments on this huge, coordinated increase in pricing by all three major telcos. Not to worry, it's normal for calls to be made for regulators to police the telcos more tightly. Echoing the comments of the public-policy watchdog group, Public Knowledge, in the USA that were addressed to their regulators, I must say: The Infocomm Development Authority and our government should find out how those caps...
