EDMONTON - International Affairs Minister Cal Dallas will announce a new global strategy for Alberta next month, including plans to open new offices in India and Singapore. Funding for the ministry jumped by $5 million in the budget released March 7, making it one of just six government departments to see increases. The department has a $37-million budget for 2013, up from $32 million in 2012 and $23 million in 2011 â a 61 per cent increase over two years. Dallas said his ministry will be focused on implementing the new Alberta International Strategy, the product of a full review ordered by Premier Alison Redford after she was elected Progressive Conservative leader in 2011. The focus is on expanding market access for Alberta resources, Dallas said, along with connecting Alberta businesses with opportunities abroad and attracting new investment to the province. âA high...
