Ongoing tussle at Sungei Road flea market continues
SINGAPORE: The on-going tussle at the Sungei Road flea market continues with limited stall space and competition still an unresolved point among vendors, with some even resorting to calling the Police. Stall vendors are still complaining there are too many vendors jostling for the 336 slots on a first-come-first-served basis. This is made worse over the weekend when more vendors come to display their wares, resulting in disputes. They said business has dropped drastically since the flea market opened on July 25 as there is now a smaller space for displaying their goods. Some have also complained of other vendors using unfair means to reserve space, and are calling for proper space allocation to help the situation.
