The report, devised by a 15-member panel that included SingaporeSailing president Benedict Tan, chief executive officer Tan Wearn Haw and two past Olympic champions Evgeny Braslavets and Igor Mativienko of Ukraine, is a master plan that aims to groom local sailors for Olympic success. Its key findings revealed that success at the junior level is no guarantee for Olympic glory, and that while we have talented local sailors, they have much to catch up on in terms of fitness and international exposure. Recommendations from the report also showed that at least seven to 10 years are needed to win Olympic medals, and ...
