NUS UTown opens its doors to pioneer batch of students

SINGAPORE: More than 1,000 students participated in a symbolic walk across the link bridge from Kent Ridge Campus to the new NUS University Town (UTown). With the completion of two residential colleges, the Cinnamon and Tembusu Colleges, a graduate residence and an education resource centre, the initial phase of UTown is now complete. A total of 1,200 undergraduate students are expected to reside in Cinnamon and Tembusu Colleges while the graduate residence will be home to 1,700 graduate students. Leading the NUS community were NUS chairman Wong Ngit Liong and NUS president Professor Tan Chorh Chuan. The symbolic bridge walk ended at the Town Plaza, where restaurants, a food court and retail outlets are expected to be located.
