Yes, Singapore must remain open to global investments and talent

If you have tried to apply to work in US or UK or anywhere else in the world, you will find with what carefulness they choose their foreign talent. Your employer will have to show to the authorities that there is no local person who can do your job. Here in Singapore some smart aleck of an MP has even put forward the idea that since it is a globalized world, the foreigner in some other country competes with you just as much as if he were in Singapore. And so you might as well bring him to Singapore to compete with you. At one stroke this MP with this one idea wipes out the advantages of geographical distance, transport costs, local knowledge, local language and dialects, local domicile with family all here and loyalty and longevity.
