An elderly Japanese gentlemen arrived in Singapore by plane. At the immigration desk, the man took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry-on bag. "Your first time here?" the ICA officer asked, sarcastically. The elderly gentleman admitted he had been to Singapore previously. "Then you should know well enough to have your passport ready." The Japanese gentleman said, "The last time I was here, I didn't have to show it." "Impossible. Everyone needs passports to enter Singapore." The elderly gentleman gave the ICA Officer a long hard look. Then he quietly explained: "Well, the last time I was here, I came by a boat in 1943. Back then, all I had to do was bayonet the Singaporean."
