How to Buy and Cook Steak

If you really want to prepare perfect steak, speak to your butcher about the way you want to cook the steak, and he will advise you as to the thickness the steak should be for that particular meal. Thin steaks are easily overcooked, while thick steaks will become char on the outside and still raw on the inside. Cook the steak over a medium to high heat making sure that the one side is sealed before turning the steak. If the steak is thick, seal it first over high heat, and then continue cooking over lower heat, until done to your taste. Actual cooking time depends on the size of the steak, and what type of cut it is. To check if the steak is done, press to feel how soft the meat is.
