[CNA] COEs drop for all vehicle categories

SINGAPORE: COE premiums for vehicles reversed their recent uptrend to close lower across the board in the latest bidding exercise on Wednesday as new quotas kick in this month. Small cars COE saw the biggest decline, dropping S$7,201 to S$48,801, after touching a 10-year high of S$56,002 in the previous exercise two weeks ago. The COE price for big cars (above 1600cc) fell S$1,611 to S$70,890, while the Open Category moved down S$4,373 to S$70,117. In the Goods Vehicles and Bus Category, the COE price eased S$493 to S$34,009. The COE for motorcycles dropped S$122 to S$1,890. The new quotas, which kick in this month, saw more COEs allocated for small cars but fewer COEs for big cars. A total of 22,324 COEs will be made available for the six-month period from August 2011 to January 2012.
