SMRT will roll out 119 more trips each week on the N-S and E-W lines to shorten waiting times during non-peak hours

SINGAPORE - From Aug 15, public transport operator SMRT will roll out 119 more train trips each week on the North-South East-West lines to shorten waiting times during non-peak hours on weekdays and Sundays. Waiting times during non-peak hours will be reduced from the current seven minutes to around four to six-and-a-half minutes. SMRT said most of the commuters who will benefit are those on the North-South Line heading to Jurong East interchange station or towards the city in the early morning on weekdays, and those on the East-West Line heading towards the city in the late morning on weekdays. Peak hours on the Changi Airport extension will also be extended by 30 minutes - to between 8am and 9am, when the trains will arrive every nine minutes.
