Yesterday Transport minister pledges to improve nation's bus service, today increase fares

SINGAPORE - Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew took to his Facebook account yesterday afternoon, penning his thoughts on how he plans to improve the country's public bus service. Compared to issues with the rail system, Mr Lui said changes to bus services "can be implemented more quickly and will provide some relief in the next few years until the ongoing works to significantly increase rail capacity is completed." He has also asked the Land Transport Authority (LTA) to do a comprehensive review of the current bus service levels. "The goal is clear – reduce waiting time, increase the predictability of bus journey times, improve our chances of getting onboard and provide better information to commuters," wrote Mr Lui.
