Mobile roaming fees could be lowered within ASEAN

KUALA LUMPUR: Southeast asian nations are working towards lowering mobile roaming charges within ASEAN, to enhance connectivity within the 10-member grouping. Communications ministers, meeting in Kuala Lumpur, plan to incorporate the move into the ASEAN ICT Masterplan that launches on Friday. The focus of the 10th ASEAN Communications Ministers Meeting in Kuala Lumpur was the proposed ICT Masterplan. The plan is expected to greatly stimulate social and economic integration of the regional grouping by 2015. Opening the meeting, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak called on all 10-member nations to focus resources on improving pan-ASEAN connectivity, and lower the cost of bandwidth.
