SINGAPORE: The Singapore Medical Council (SMC) has suspended 40-year-old Chee Yew Wen for six months from July 29, for administering an inappropriate procedure to reduce the size of a patient's nasal tip. The patient had complained to the Council in 2009 that Dr Chee treated him twice with laser. He said he suffered severe burn, resulting in a scar and a loss of nasal tip profile. Dr Chee is a general practitioner at Wen & Weng Medical Group at VivoCity and the Medical & Rejuvenation Centre at China Square Central. After an inquiry by the disciplinary committee of the SMC, Dr Chee was found guilty of professional misconduct for performing laser lipolysis using a machine known as smartlipo to remove nasal tip fat.
