Lower roaming fees soon between Singapore & Malaysia

SINGAPORE - In two months time, consumers will be able to enjoy lower roaming fees between Singapore and Malaysia, according to Malaysia's Information, Communication and Culture Minister Dr Rais Yatim yesterday (Corrected at 03:45 PM Jan 14, 2011). Speaking at the opening of the 10th Asean Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting in Malaysia, Singapore Minister of Information, Communications and the Arts Lui Tuck Yew added that the move would benefit the industry in terms of an increase in communication volumes. StarHub says it has been in discussions with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) on the roaming initiative by the Government, while SingTel said in a statement that it is awaiting the IDA's release of further details on the matter.
