Some S'poreans shocked by damage to their Brisbane properties

SINGAPORE : Some Singaporeans living in Brisbane say they are shocked at the damage to their properties following the recent floods. The swamped Australian city on Friday began the heartbreaking task of cleaning up after its worst floods in decades. More than 26,000 homes were flooded, electricity remained cut off to thousands of homes, and key roads were still blocked. Many Singaporeans living in Australia's third largest city, who were in Singapore for holidays, were also affected. Prof Sushila Chang, a Brisbane resident, said: "About three days ago, the concierge of my apartment wrote me an e-mail saying that the floods are coming - could everyone remove their cars from the basement carpark. "Subsequently, a few hours later, I had an e-mail from her telling me that it's too late, the basement carpark has been inundated and ... (my) car is gone." Others received similar ...
