"Beijing Opens Library for the Blind."

BEIJING: Beijing's first non-governmental library for the blind has helped to open a new world to the visually-impaired. The Xinmu Library for the Visually Handicapped in Beijing may be modest, but it has attracted many visually impaired residents. With the library, the blind can now read and borrow books printed in Braille, or listen to audio books recorded by volunteers. The first privately-run library to be set up by a non-profit organisation hopes to provide more social facilities that will benefit the visually impaired. Even though public libraries also provide books that are printed in Braille, their selection is fairly limited, and reading rooms for the blind in such public libraries are sometimes inconvenient, and even inaccessible.
