THEATRE doyen Kuo Pao Kun and the authors behind Slumdog Millionaire and Freakonomics are among those in the spotlight at this year's Singapore Writers Festival (SWF). Taking place from Oct 22 to 30, the festival is set to explore the theme of Transaction and will feature around 120 writers and over 100 free and ticketed events. The opening salvo of 25 writers were announced yesterday, including economist Steven Levitt (Freakonomics), 2010 Man Asian Literary Prize winner Bi Feiyu (Three Sisters) and fictionist Michael Chabon (Wonder Boys, The Amazing Adventures Of Kavalier & Clay), who will all be giving solo presentations for the inaugural SWF Lectures series.
