Singtel's net profit fell 2.9 per cent to $916 million for its first quarter ended June 30, pulled down by its regional mobile associates.--ST PHOTO:TERENCE HAN By Irene Tham SINGTEL'S net profit fell 2.9 per cent to $916 million for its first quarter ended June 30, pulled down by its regional mobile associates. Group revenue however rose 7.4 per cent to $4.6 billion as its SIngapore and Australian businesses grew despite keen competition. Ordinary pre-tax earnings from its regional mobile associates fell 10 per cent year-on-year to $472 million due to weaker regional currencies and the inclusion of a full quarter of losses from Bharti Africa. Revenue from Singtel Singapore rose 2 per cent to $1.56 billion, thanks to growth in its mobile business.
