The Government will revise the income ceiling for a longstanding scheme that helps poorer Malay students pay for their tertiary education. -- PHOTO: MOE By Zakir Hussain The Government will revise the income ceiling for a longstanding scheme that helps poorer Malay students pay for their tertiary education, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said at the National Day Rally held on Sunday night. But, a key principle of this Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) will remain: students from poorer households enjoy free education in universities and polytechnics while the better off have to pay fees. Speaking in Malay at the start of his National Day Rally, Mr Lee noted that the income criteria had not changed since the scheme was introduced 20 years ago.
