More affordable outpatient care for Singaporeans with chronic illnesses #ndrsg

The Government will make outpatient medical care more affordable to more Singaporeans with chronic illnesses. -- PHOTO: ZAOBAO By Lydia Lim The Government will make outpatient medical care more affordable to more Singaporeans with chronic illnesses, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced in his National Day Rally. It will extend a scheme that allows elderly and disabled patients on low incomes to visit general practitioners and pay polyclinic rates. The qualifying age for the scheme will be lowered from 65 to 40 years. The income criteria will be revised to include more households. The Government will also make medication more affordable to the low-income. It will do so by subsidising more types of drugs. It will also increase the subsidies for more expensive drugs, such as those that cancer patients need. The Ministry of Health will announce more details of the changes ...
