One of football's longest transfer sagas has come to an end, with Cesc Fabregas joining Barca in a deal worth up to S$69m

LONDON - Cesc Fabregas has finally completed his move to Barcelona for a deal that is worth €40 million (S$69 million). It is understood that the Arsenal captain has travelled to Barcelona and could even be unveiled by the European champions later today. Barcelona yesterday claiming they will only have to pay €14.5 million up front, with a further €14.5 million to be paid in October. It is then understood that €1 million will be released for each year of a contract that lasts until 2016. Providing Fabregas wins one European Cup and two La Liga titles over the next five years, Arsenal will receive a further €6 million. This takes the potential overall fee to €40 million. Arsenal had been holding out for a fee of €45 million but have ultimately decided that it is better not to keep an unhappy player.
