SINGAPORE : Property analysts and potential homebuyers have welcomed the latest changes to public housing policies, saying they are long overdue. With more flats being offered in combined launches, homebuyers said they are more optimistic. In September, there will be 8,000 available flats, including unsold units that have already been completed. That's the highest single launch since the Build-To-Order (BTO) scheme was created. "I think it's good because they have given us more choices. The chances of getting a ballot are higher," said one homebuyer. The raising of the qualifying income ceiling will ease some worries not just for young couples, but also for singles. Under the rules, singles above 35 years old are allowed to buy a resale flat, and are eligible for a HDB housing loan if they meet certain criteria.
