Malaysian shipwrecks exhibition opens in Kuala Lumpur

An exhibition of 240 artifacts from 13 shipwrecks is set to open at the national museum on Monday. The artifacts are mostly ceramic ware used for cooking and storing food as well as porcelain utensils used by the Chinese in the olden days, said Department of Museums director-general Datuk Ibrahim Ismail. Some of the ceramic materials had specific uses, such as for bridal gifts and religious ceremonies, and their functions could be identified through the decorative patterns on them, he told reporters.
