Singapore on alert for bird flu

The Health Ministry said this in a statement issued on Thursday in response to the first confirmed case of H7N9 in Taiwan. It added that seven people here had been investigated for the bird flu and all tested negative. A spokesman for the ministry said it would continue to monitor the situation. On Wednesday, a 53-year-old man who had been working in the eastern Chinese city of Suzhou, had flu symptoms three days after returning to Taiwan via Shanghai. He was hospitalised on April 16 and remained in critical condition. The ministry advised those travelling to areas affected by H7N9 to remain vigilant ...
