Sinda, Mendaki and CDAC could merge: Dr Tan Cheng Bock #sgpresident

SINGAPORE - Dr Tan Cheng Bock said if he was elected president, he would look at the way self-help groups like the Singapore Indian Development Association (Sinda), Mendaki, and the Chinese Development Assistance Council (CDAC), were structured. He suggested merging them as he said Singaporeans need to look at such issues across a national level, and not just within racial lines. Dr Tan was speaking at a coffee shop at Raffles Place, just hours after his nomination for the Aug 27 presidential election was confirmed. He shook hands with the crowd and posed for photos with voters as his volunteers handed out flyers and held up placards. He added that he would want to unite people across race and political affiliations through joint activities like concerts and football matches.
