SINGAPORE - A north-bound MRT train was pulled out of service yesterday morning by rail operator SMRT after a train officer discovered graffiti on the train - the second such incident in two years. In a statement last night, SMRT said it had made a police report and initial investigations indicate a breach in the fence at its Bishan depot where the train was parked. It said it takes a "very serious" view of the incident and is conducting internal investigations. Following the incident. SMRT said it had done a complete check on the trains, directed all guardhouses to step up security and patrols in its premises, and that security managers are increasing their spot checks. "We are very concerned that, despite stepped-up patrolling of the perimeter of our depots, this incident took place," said a spokeswoman.
