Do merchants and consumers get the same credit report?: But the merchants to whom I applied for loans and credit...

I recently paid S$5 for a Credit Bureau Singapore report and did not find anything adverse in my credit history. But the merchants to whom I applied for loans and credit cards said they could not approve my applications because I was bankrupt in 1999. I was discharged of my debts in 2005. So, why was it not stated in my credit report and yet the merchants knew about my bankruptcy? Does the credit bureau give the same report to both consumers and merchants? When I asked the bureau, it said the reports were similar. But when I applied for a loan, a customer service officer at one of the merchants said it was stated in the credit report she had received that I had been a bankrupt. So, which is which?
