Dr Tan, 71, who lives in nearby Greenwood Avenue, was accompanied by his wife Mary and daughter Patricia. Although they gamely posed for photographers with their polling cards and ICs, Dr Tan was taking no chances with the rules. When asked by photographers to wave for a picture, he said with a smile 'Cannot wave'. He also declined to speak to reporters. Certain campaign and election advertising activities are prohibited on Polling Day under the Presidential Elections Act. The Straits Times understands he will be visiting a polling station in Ghim Moh at noon.
